Matt Boldy made his NHL debut for the Minnesota Wild in January 2022 against the Boston Bruins, the team he grew up cheering for. He scored his first NHL goal in the same game. This made him the third Massachusetts-born player in NHL history to score his first NHL goal in his debut and the first to do so as a visitor.
