Los Angeles-based alt-rock outfit Plastic Rhino introduces their brand-new single/music video, “Bleeding Heart,” a track from their upcoming album, Terminus, slated to drop later this year.
Made up of Atara Glazer (vocalist), and Jack Glazer (guitar, bass), Plastic Rhino’s genesis occurred when the two artists met in 2011, followed by performing locally as an acoustic cover act. Meanwhile, they were writing their own music, music influenced by Alice In Chains, Muse, Soundgarden, and Queens Of The Stone Age.
In 2012, they formed Plastic Rhino.
“Bleeding Heart” follows on the heels of “King,” which was released last year and was produced by Tom Chandler (Diamond Age, Malison) with Ron Geffen. Well-received, “King” appeared on Spotify’s Editorial Playlist ‘All-New Rock’ and was featured on 95.5 KLOS’s Heidi and Frank Show ‘Stay Or Go.’
Opening on ‘80s growling guitars riding a potent rhythm provided by a subterranean vibrating bassline and walloping drums, “Bleeding Heart” blends retro flavors of rock with modern alt-rock elements.
Atara’s voice, vaguely reminiscent of Joan Jett crossed with Hayley Williams, imbues the lyrics with swashbuckling textures rife with vampiric, femme fatale rasps and wicked melodic timbres.
A wailing blare performs a sonic antiphony with Atara’s luscious yowls, giving the tune luminosity and searing incandescence. Jack’s snarling guitar solo infuses the tune with blistering licks, followed by a pressurized wall of sound culmination.
Throbbing with heavy washes of pummeling momentum, “Bleeding Heart” rolls out provocative music topped by Atara Glazer’s superb vocals.
