With summer air travel to expected to break all kinds of records, the Boise Airport says it's planning to open up its economy lot.

“Summer air travel is predicted to break records nationwide,” said Mike O’Dell, Boise Airport's deputy director of finance and administration. “We want to ensure our travelers have an enjoyable experience at the Boise Airport, which is why we’re taking proactive measures to add additional parking spaces to meet demand.”

Last year, the airport saw 3.5 million passengers (an increase of 34.5 percent since 2013).

"Our passenger growth shows no signs of slowing," O'Dell said.

The Economy Parking Lot, located off Victory Road near Orchard St., has a daily parking fee of $7.50. A free shuttle is available 24 hours a day, departing approximately every 15 minutes.

Passengers traveling this summer season are also encouraged to arrive two hours before their departure time, as check-in and security lines could be longer than normal.
