The 2023 Hall of Fame game between the Cleveland Browns and New York Jets is Thursday night at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio. The Jets are a small favorite with the total set at a very low 33.5 points as of Tuesday morning. Cleveland originally opened as a small favorite, and the betting market quickly flipped that after news came out of both camps.

Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET on NBC and will stream on Peacock.

The 2023 NFL Hall of Fame class includes Darrelle Revis, Ronde Barber, Joe Thomas, Zach Thomas and DeMarcus Ware. Don Coryell will go in as a coach and contributor, while Chuck Howley, Joe Klecko and Ken Riley were elected by the seniors committee.

Browns vs. Jets Odds

The last five Hall of Fame games have averaged 30 points scored between the two teams as we see coaches continue to call run play after run play to escape Canton with minimal injuries to their roster.

Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said he won’t play his top two quarterbacks in the game Kellen Mond will start and rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson will see plenty of action. Cleveland picked Thompson-Robinson in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft out of UCLA and he should be considered the favorite to be the third-string quarterback behind Joshua Dobbs.

There’s a chance the Browns play some second-string players for a bit of the first quarter and some rookies.

The Jets quarterback depth beyond Aaron Rodgers includes former starter Zach Wilson, Tim Boyle and Chris Streveler. Jets coach Robert Salah said Wilson will play in Thursday’s game.

While we won’t get to see Rodgers’ debut in a Jets uniform on the playing field, expect plenty of talk about his departure from Green Bay and Sean Peyton’s comments on Nathaniel Hackett’s 2022 Denver Broncos.

Expert Pick

It is interesting that Zach Wilson will see some playing time in this game. Of course, Wilson could turn the ball over too. The Browns don’t seem particularly interested in this game, but the Jets may not be interested either. If you’re jonesing to bet on football, I’d lean toward betting on the Jets in this one. The total is super low, but I don’t see a high-scoring affair in this one as coaches become less interested in making preseason games competitive.
